Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Then, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Begin by removing the five screws and then loosen the two captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Remember to remove the non-captive screws first to create the gap for prying the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Now, using your fingers, gently pry open the base cover, starting from the recesses near the hinges. Continue prying along the other sides to release the base cover and remove it. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board. And turn the computer over and open the display Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power.
Turn the computer back over. Disconnect the speaker cables from the connectors on the system board. Remember to pry the base of the cable connector’s head first and then pull it away from the connectors on the system board. Avoid pulling the cables downward to disconnect them. Lift the left speaker off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Next, remove the right speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Lift the right speaker off. Now, let's install the new speakers. If the rubber grommets are pushed out when removing the speakers, push them back in before replacing the speakers. Using the alignment posts and the rubber grommets, place the speakers into the speaker slots on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Route the right speaker cable along the routing guides. Connect the speaker cables to the connectors on the system board. Now, connect the battery cable to the system board. Align the base cover with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and snap it into place. Tighten the two captive screws and then replace the five screws to secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
