In this video, we’ll show you how to unbox and set up your Dell Premium Active Pen. Now let’s begin. First, cut the seal and open the box. Then, slide out the tray to access the Active Pen components and the documents.
Inside the box, you’ll find the Dell Premium Active Pen, a quadruple-A battery, the nib and tip remover, a lanyard cable, the Warranty, Safety and Regulatory document, and the Quick Start Guide. The nib and tip remover is used to change and replace the nib of the pen. Before using the pen, you need to install the battery. To do this, remove the top of the pen.
You’ll find the PPID label attached to the inner ring of the pen top. This number is used for registering your pen at dell.com/support/warranty. Align the quadruple-A battery with the PPID label with the positive side pointing towards the top of the pen and slide the battery into the pen.
Align the flat side of the pen with the flat side of the top cover, and attach the top cover to the pen. Now, you’re ready to pair the Dell Premium Active Pen with your computer using Bluetooth. On your computer, open the Dell and "other devices settings" window. If Bluetooth is turned off, turn it on. Then, click "Add Bluetooth or other devices" followed by "Bluetooth". On the pen, you’ll need to enable pairing mode.
To do this, press and hold the top button of the pen for 3 seconds. The Bluetooth pairing light blinks to confirm the pairing mode is enabled. Now, select the "Dell PN579X Pen" from the list in Windows to complete the pairing process. To use the Dell Premium Active Pen, hold it like you would a regular pen or pencil. However, hold the pen in a way so as not to accidentally press the button while drawing.
