In this video, we'll show you how to unbox, install and configure your power store appliance. Before you start, there are a few things to note. First, make sure that you have reviewed and prepared your site based on the information in the power store planning guide. Also make sure you've configured your network and top of rack switches as directed in the power store networking guide for power store T models or power store networking guide for power store X models. Next, obtain and record network related information in the initial configuration worksheet to help during the power store initial configuration process. Be sure to get help from a second person or use a mechanical lift to install the enclosure into the rack.
Also make sure that you create a support account at dell.com/support. If you won't have access to the base enclosure for initial configuration, you should also download the power to discover utility on your workstation. You'll find all these resources on the power store documentation page at dell.com/powers Store docs. After you've reviewed the documentation and recruited Lift assistant, you're ready to get the base enclosure unboxed installed and configured. Verify that your system contains the items required to proceed with the installation. Refer to the quick start guide included in the box. Next decide where you will install the base enclosure. We recommend that you install your base enclosure in the lowest possible space in the cabinet.
Leaving a to use space open at the bottom for serviceability. If you're installing an expansion enclosure, install the expansion enclosure in the next available to use space directly above the base enclosure or the last expansion enclosure in the appliance finally leave for you at the top of the cabinet. For top of rack switches, the power store planning guide includes a sample rack planning worksheet which can help you plan the location where you want to install power store. Next, install the rails into your cabinet, position the rails. So the front label is facing the front of the cabinet and the bottom lip is facing inward. Make sure the pins on the back of the rail are lined up correctly.
The top pin shown here in blue goes to the top hole of the upper U the bottom pin here shown in green goes to the bottom hole of the lower U then pull the rail straight back until the latch is locked. Next, install the front of the rail, press a blue latch button to open the latch, pull the rail forward until the pins slide into the holes on the front of the rack, then release the latch. Make sure the pins line up correctly. The top pin here shown in blue goes to the top hole of the upper U. The bottom pin shown here in green goes through the middle hole of the lower U. Now you're ready to install the base enclosure into the rails. First get a second person or mechanical lift to help you install the enclosure into the rails. The enclosure is heavy and could cause personal injury or equipment damage if dropped. Next slide, the base enclosure into the rails until the enclosure is flushed with the front of the cabinet and fully seated. If you're transporting the rack, you can secure the enclosure to the cabinet by tightening the captive screw under each latch using a screwdriver.
Next slide, the black surface tag out from the base enclosure and record the Dell service tag optionally at this point, install and connect any expansion enclosures. Now connect the base enclosure to your network before you start, make sure you have configured your network. When installing fiber channel block optimized power short T models, you only need one management switch or network if you aren't configuring or using the replication import file or is cuzzy features during the initial configuration process in the storage network step, use a configure later option to generate placeholder IPV six addresses for all other power store T model installations. You'll need one management switch or network plus two top of rack switches for storage services such as is cuzzy or MVE TCP, host connectivity replication, import clustering or network attached storage or NAS. For all power store X model installations, you'll need two top of rack switches.
Refer to the power store networking guide for power store key models or power store networking guide for power store X models for specific requirements and instructions. Check with your network administrator to determine which ports on your switches you can use. Make sure that you've connected the 2 100 GB E ports of the bottom switch to the 2 100 GB E ports of the top switch for power store T model appliances only connect the management ports on both nodes to the management switch or network. If you're installing a fiber channel only block optimized power store T model system and do not plan on configuring or using the replication import file or I cuzzy features. You can skip this next step. First connect the networking cables on node A connect port zero of the embedded module to switch one connect port, one of the embedded module to switch two next connect the networking cables of node B connect port zero of the embedded module to switch to connect port one of the embedded module to switch one.
Now you are ready to power up the appliance, connect the power cable of each node of the base enclosure, then connect the other end of the power cables to PD A and PDUB in the cabinet. The base enclosure automatically starts up at the front of the appliance. The base enclosure led will flash amber. This indicates the appliance is ready to be configured. Next align the bezel with the enclosure and gently push it into the cabinet until it latches. Use a bezel key to lock the bezel. Now you can discover your new installed appliance and create a cluster. There are three ways you can discover and begin this initial configuration process. The first two are remote connection methods that use a static discovery IP or the discovery utility. These are useful if you don't have physical access to the base enclosure, read the networking guide for help using these remote connection methods. The third method is direct connection which is a recommended process and will be shown in this video to discover the appliance. Using this method, you must be physically present in the location where you installed the base enclosure.
Now set up your workstation's Ethernet adapter to discover the system first connect directly to the service port on note B of the enclosure. Next, make sure that the workstation's Ethernet adapter is configured with a static IP address on the service land network with no gateway address defined. Finally check that you can ping the IP address of no BS service land port in a web browser, go to http S colon forward slash forward slash 0.1 0.250. The power store manager login screen appears log on to the power store manager using the default user credentials and start the initial configuration process during the initial configuration process, enter the information you obtained from the initial configuration worksheet. After the initial configuration is complete, you can disconnect the workstation from the service port. Your power store cluster is now ready to use.
