In this video we show how to replace the M.2 2230 solid state drive or SSD in an Inspiron 14 7445 2 in 1. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Before removing the SSD, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. To begin, remove the four screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Then, loosen the remaining three captive screws. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the top left at the hinge, and then continue to work the sides to open the base cover. Slide and lift the base cover off the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Then, turn over the computer and open the display. Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power. Remove the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board. Then, slide and lift it out. Turn over the assembly and remove the screw that secures the SSD to the bracket and lift it off the bracket.
To install the SSD, align it on the bracket and replace the screw that secures it in place. Turn over the assembly. Align and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board. Then replace the screw that secures the assembly to the system board. Now, connect the battery cable to the system board. Place and snap the base cover on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
