In this video, we will demonstrate how to remove and install the hard drive. To remove the base cover, loosen the four captive screws Remove the six screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover beside the display hinges, and then continue to work on the sides to open the base cover. Lift and remove the base cover away from the computer. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
Turn the computer over and open the display. Press and hold the power button for five seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power. After draining the flea power, close the display and turn the computer over. Now let’s remove the hard drive. Open the latch and disconnect the hard-drive cable from the system board. Remove the three screws (M2x3) that secure the hard-drive assembly to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Lift the hard-drive assembly along with its cable off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Disconnect the interposer from the hard-drive assembly. Remove the four screws (M3x3) that secure the hard-drive bracket to the hard drive. Remove the hard drive from the hard-drive bracket. You have successfully removed the hard drive. Connect the interposer to the hard-drive assembly. Align the screw holes on the hard-drive assembly with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Replace the three screws (M2x3) that secure the hard-drive assembly to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly Connect the hard-drive cable to the system board and close the latch to secure the cable. Once the hard drive is installed, Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Place the base cover on top of the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly, and then snap the base cover into place. Tighten the four captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Replace the six (M2x7) screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly The hard drive installation process is now completed.
