In this video, we guide you through the process of disassembling a system, focusing on removing and replacing the drive backplane, air shroud, and rear mounting front PERC module. Detailed steps include disconnecting cables, releasing tabs, and securing components back into place, ensuring a smooth and safe procedure.
Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the drive backplane cover:
Slide the drive backplane cover in the direction of the arrows marked on the drive backplane cover.
Lift the drive backplane cover from the system.
Remove the air shroud:
Hold the edges of the air shroud, and lift the air shroud out of the system.
Remove the drive backplane:
Press the blue release tabs to disengage the drive backplane from the hooks on the system.
Lift and pull the drive backplane out of the system.
NOTE:To avoid damaging the backplane, ensure that you move the control panel cables from the cable routing clips before removing the backplane.
Disconnect all the cables, observe the cable routing.
Removing the rear mounting front PERC module:
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the captive screws on the rear mounting front PERC module.
Slide the rear mounting front PERC module to disengage from the connector on the drive backplane.
Installing the rear mounting front PERC module:
Align the connectors and guide slots on the front PERC module with the connectors and guide pins on the drive backplane.
Slide the rear mounting front PERC module until the module is connected to the drive backplane.
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten the captive screws on the rear mounting front PERC module.
NOTE:The numbers on the image do not depict the exact steps. The numbers are for representation of sequence.
Install the drive backplane:
Align the slots on the drive backplane with the guides on the system.
Slide the drive backplane into the guides and lower the backplane until the blue release tabs clicks into place.
Route the cables properly through the cable guide.
Installing the air shroud:
Align the slot on the air shroud with the standoff on the system.
Lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
Install the drive backplane cover:
Align the drive backplane cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the drive backplane cover to the front of the system until the drive backplane cover fits into place.
