Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system:
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the sled from the enclosure.
Remove the expansion card riser assembly.
If installed, remove the mezzanine card filler bracket.
Unpack the mezzanine card and prepare it for installation. For instructions, see the documentation accompanying the card.
NOTE: If available, you must install the Mylar sheet to insulate the mezzanine card.
Keep the Phillips #1 screwdriver ready.
Removing a mezzanine card:
Remove the screws that secure the mezzanine card to the sled.
Lift the mezzanine card out of the sled.
NOTE: You must install an expansion card filler bracket over an empty expansion slot to maintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.
Installing a mezzanine card:
Attach and a secure the mezzanine card bracket to the mezzanine card.
Holding the card by its edges, position the card so that the card edge connector aligns with the connector of the bridge board on the system board.
Insert the card edge connector and push the card firmly until the card is fully seated on the bridge board.
Secure the mezzanine card and bracket assembly to the sled using screws.
Install the expansion card riser assembly.
Install the sled into the enclosure.
Follow the procedure listed in the After working inside your system section.
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system:
Install the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Turn on the attached peripherals and then turn on the system.
