In this example, we're going to see how to log into the ESX I host via command line, collect a log bundle and use one SCP to upload. So ssh into your ex I host and log in as user root. And the password will be supplied by the customer.
The command line interface can be run from where you log in just um be aware that it will be placed in slash bar slash temp and that there is enough space there. The command to run the log collection is VM dash support. This can take 20 minutes to half an hour to run. Um When it's complete, it will give you the name of the file. As you can see. It's here.
It's dot TGZ which is a zip file and where it is in CD slash to download your log file from your ESX I host. You use the tool, win secure copy window, secure copy, which is also known as win SCP open the tool, log in to your host using your host name or IP address and log in as user route and the password as supplied by the customer. Once you're logged in, you navigate to the slash V slash temp directory as shown previously.
And once there, you will see your log file with the dot TGZ extension, that's a target and zip file. And you can just click and drag it across to your local host.
Once the download is complete, it is good practice to remove the log file from your ESX I host in order to conserve space. And when you're finished just close out when SCP.
Thank you for watching.
