In this video we will demonstrate how to remove and install the M.2 2230 Solid-State Drive or SSD.
Before removing the SSD, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.

Then turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. If you have a SD card connected to the system, make sure to remove it before you proceed further.
To begin, turn the computer over and loosen the two captive screws followed by the seven screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Using the flat-end of a plastic scribe, pry the base cover starting from the recess at the hinge area and work your way around. Then, lift and remove the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Next, disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board. Turn the computer over and open the display. Press and hold the power button for five seconds to ground the computer and drain the flea power.
After draining the flea power, close the display, and turn the computer over. Now let’s remove the M.2 2230 SSD. Loosen the captive screw and remove the single screw that secures the SSD thermal plate to the system board.
Slide and lift the thermal plate with the SSD out of the system. Remove the single screw that secures the SSD to the SSD thermal plate, and then remove the SSD.
You have now successfully removed the SSD. Now, let’s see how to install the M.2 2230 SSD. Align and place the SSD on the SSD thermal plate and replace the single screw that secures the SSD to the SSD bracket.
Slide the SSD assembly into the SSD slot on the system board. Then, replace the single screw and tighten the captive screw to secure the SSD thermal plate to the system board.
At this point, reconnect the battery cable to the connector on the system board. Align and place the base cover on the palmrest and keyboard assembly and snap the base cover into place.
Now, tighten the two captive screws and replace the seven screws to secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. You have now successfully installed the SSD.
