My name is Ted, and I'm a Principal Engineer, Systems Management Group at Dell EMC. Today we're going to go over user accounts and registering for SupportAssist, or Secure Connect Gateway. Part of the Secure Connect Gateway registration requires you to log in with your business account to generate a key and a pin for access. When first navigating to the site you may be asked to create an account if you do not already have one.
To create an account enter your first, last name, email address and a new password for your account, and click 'Create Account'. Once you create an account you may not have access to create a key and pin to register Secure Connect Gateway. One of the errors can be if you see this screen here, that is 'only accessible to a Dell EMC business user account'.
To complete the registration of your user account and register it to your business profile you have to go to 'dell.com/support/preferences/user registration'. You'll be asked to log in with your new account, and you may be asked to provide a validation code via two-factor authentication. Once you log in you may see 'Additional Access Rights Required' message. On this page we have to select which of these four options pertains to our situation. In our example we're registering Secure Connect Gateway for use for monitoring Dell EMC equipment. We're going to choose the first option as we are an employee of an organization that has Dell EMC enterprise products that we're going to monitor with our Secure Connect Gateway. These other options may not apply in this situation.
Once we click 'Submit' we're asked to provide some additional information for our business profile, and submit this. Well be required to enter 'Yes', we have purchased Dell EMC equipment and provide business name information for our organization. Once this is complete we review and complete the registration process, and then we can begin again with logging in to generate a key and a pin for our Secure Connect Gateway install.
Once we go back to login and create our registration key PIN we should be able to log in, and if our account has been associated we'll see we are able to access our Site ID and generate a key and PIN. And here we have access to our site and can generate our key and PIN. You''ll also notice that there is a black check mark next to your account at the top, along with some additional options like manage company information and Dell EMC preferences.
If you're still not able to get access and it's still showing you don't have a business account after completing your registration you're going to want to collect some information and reach out to support@emc.com via e-mail. You want to provide the following information: Your email address for your business. This cannot be a Yahoo or Gmail address. This has to be from your work domain, from your business domain.
Your phone number, company name, company address, city, country, region or state, postal code, zip code, additional information. If you have your Site ID number, if you have a sales order number for a recent order, if you have a serial number or your service tag for your equipment at your site, any of that information can be useful. Any service requests that you've had for this equipment at this site, and then a description of the URL you are trying to access.
In our case we're trying to access the Secure Connect Gateway registration for the Windows application edition so we would put this URL here, and then a note that we are unable to get access, telling us that we do not have a valid business account. Once this information has been sent to support@emc.com it can take 24 to 48 hours for a response. You will receive a service request number and contact details for the agent who picks up your case.
If you have any issues with this process you can call into support and provide the service number that you receive from contacting support@emc.com to streamline this process. It's also important to note that by validating your identity with Dell EMC, you are also helping to safeguard your equipment that you have purchased.
Thank you for watching our video have a great day.
