Install your Dell USB-C or Thunderbolt Dock with Dell Command Update Dell Command Update, or DCU, can automatically install software Your USB-C or Thunderbolt Dock needs to function.
Before you begin, connect the power adapter to your system, and disconnect your dock. Visit Dell.com/support. Enter your Service Tag. Select 'Drivers and downloads', 'Find it myself', then 'Browse all Drivers'.
You will find DCU under 'Systems Management'. Run the installer, and accept the license. Launch DCU. Choose your update settings. Then click 'Check'. Verify that Dell Docking Solution is selected.
Then click 'Install'. If Dell Docking Solution is not listed, Make sure DCU is version 2.2 or newer. You may be prompted to reboot Windows. Click 'Restart'.
A BIOS update may occur. This may take up to fifteen minutes. Login to Windows. You will see a success screen when the updates are complete. Now connect your dock and select 'Always Connect' from the drop-down menus.
