Welcome.
This video will cover: How to Add Dell Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise Application Control Exclusions. After you have logged on to your Dell Security Management Server administration console these policies are located in "Populations", Enterprise, "Threat Prevention", Advanced Threat Prevention.
Once you have arrived at the "Advanced Threat Prevention" page, click "Show advanced settings". Then, scroll down to the "Application Control" section. Exclusive to Windows operating systems Application Control, when enabled, blocks applications from installing or updating without an exclusion for the directories used during their installation or update.
In the "Application Control" section, to add exclusions, these are the policies that must be set. Application Control needs to be checked, and the editable text field for "Application Control Allowed Folders" needs to be populated with the absolute paths of the applications.
An absolute path refers to the complete details needed to locate a file or folder, starting from the root element and ending with the other subdirectories. The "Application Control Allowed Folders" policy requires a drive letter to be specified in the absolute path.
Here is an example of an absolute path. Here is some additional information you will need to know about the editable text field for "Application Control Allowed" folders.
Folder exclusions do not support network paths, wildcards, or special characters. Enclose an exclusion in quotation marks if any of the following characters are used: a comma (,), brackets ([...]), or a tilde (~). Once you have completed your changes, click "Save". Then, commit the policies.
