A Dell desktop system is an extension of your personality. It can be unnerving when it stops working, and this video will take a look at troubleshooting your monitor for blank screens and power issues.
Before proceeding, check that the monitor is connected to the wall outlet and is powered on. The display cable is securely attached to the monitor and tower. The correct video input mode is selected.
To start with, disconnect the display cable from the tower. If the monitor displays a no VGA, DVI, or HDMI cable message, the monitor has passed the Built-In Self-Test, and you may have to troubleshoot your computer.
If not, confirm that the monitor is receiving power by observing the power LED. If the LED is off, ensure that the monitor is powered on. If the LED continues to be off after pressing the power button try these steps.
Unplug the monitor power cord from the wall. Unplug the cord from the back of the monitor. Wait for a minute. Attach the cord back to the monitor and plug it in to a functioning wall outlet.
Press the monitor power button. Did that work? If not, ensure that the power cable is intact. Check for tears, exposed wires, or any damages. If the power LED glows amber, the monitor is not receiving a working signal from your PC.
Ensure that the PC is powered on. Check the display cable for any damages and ensure that it is connected properly. If the system has a discrete video card, the integrated card will be disabled.
In such scenarios, the display cable could be connected to the discrete card's board. Ensure that you have selected the correct monitor input source.
Traditional monitors will have a quick-access button to switch display from VGA to DVI and vice versa. Or, you can switch the input source by going to "Menu", Input Source, and select the appropriate source.
