In this video, we will demonstrate how to remove and install the Intel Optane solid-state drive, or SSD. Before removing the SSD, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. To remove the left-side cover, remove the two thumbscrews that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Gripping firmly on the tab on the left-side cover, slide the cover towards the back of the computer, and remove the left-side cover off of the chassis. Note that depending on the configuration ordered your computer may come out with one of the following modules installed: the M.2 2230 solid-state drive; the M.2 2280 solid-state drive; or the M.2 2280 Intel Optane.
Now, let’s remove the SSD. Lay the computer with its right side facing down. Remove the screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Slide and lift the SSD from the M.2 card slot on the system board. You have successfully removed the SSD. Now let’s see how to install the SSD. Locate the notch on the SSD. Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the M.2 card slot. Slide the SSD into the M.2 card slot on the system board. Then replace the screw that secures the SSD to the system board.
Once the SSD is installed, install the left-side cover. To install the left-side cover, align the tabs on the left-side cover with the slots on the chassis and slide it towards the front of the computer.
