Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
Turn off the system and any attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
If installed, remove the optional front bezel.
Place the system on its side.
Remove the system cover.
Keep the Phillips #2 screwdriver ready.
Remove the cooling shroud.
Remove the internal cooling fan.
Disconnect any cables connected to the iDRAC port card.
Removing the optional iDRAC port card:
Loosen the screw that secures the iDRAC port card holder to the system board.
Pull the iDRAC port card to disengage it from the iDRAC port card connector on the system board, and remove the card from the chassis.
Installing the optional iDRAC port card:
Align and insert the tabs on the iDRAC port card on the slots on the chassis wall.
Insert the iDRAC port card into the connector on the system board.
Tighten the screw to secure the iDRAC port card.
Reconnect all the cables to the iDRAC port card.
Install the internal cooling fan.
Install the cooling shroud.
Follow the procedure listed in the After working inside your system section:
Install the system cover.
Place the system upright on its feet on a flat and stable surface.
Install the optional bezel.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the system to an electrical outlet and peripherals.
Turn on the system and any attached peripherals.
