How to rename A Brocade fiber channel switch. In reference to de MC knowledge base article 544998 This video was created to learn how to change the switch name. Changing the switch name is important to distinguish and identify the device uniquely in a fabric. It is required for accurate tracking of logs and errors.
You must specify an easily understandable and meaningful switch name as messages that appear in the logs are labeled with a switch name and tracking of the errors becomes easier. This video presents detailed steps to rename the switch and verify if the switch name has changed. Feel free to pause the video to review these steps before you begin, you need to have admin access to this which the following considerations apply to switch names.
Please take a few moments to read through. In this demonstration, we are going to rename A DS 6505 switch to a new DS 6505 validate the current name of this switch by running the command switch name. The current switch name is DS 6505 to rename this switch. We will execute the switch name command with an Atrian name.
