How two series. In this video, we will introduce how to install power protect data manager. 19.5 and data domain virtual environment 5.0 with cloud formation template in AWS reference Dell knowledge article number 544711 Before we deploy power protect data manager, please prepare key pair VPC subnet root tables, security groups, network access control list, I am roll and S3 bucket for data domain.
Before we install a power protect data manager, security groups can be created by cloud formation automatically if you don't specify create I am roll for data domain EC2 instance to access S3 bucket, go to AWS management console search, I am services on the left panel, click rolls, click create roll, click ec to service in this page type S3. In the filter field, it will show all policies relating to S3 select S3 full access, click next type the real name, click create roll.
We can see the new demo role has been created, create key pair for power protect data manager and data domain command line interface log in go to AWS management console click EC2 on the left panel, click key pairs, click create key pair, put the name of key pairs. Select PPK. If you use putty to log in and see two instances, click create key pair, it will ask you to download the PPK file. Save to local. Now the key pair has been created. Create an MT S3 bucket for data domain file system. Go to AWS management console, click S3 service where we can type S3 in the search field in this page, click create bucket type the bucket name, click next click next click next, click, create bucket.
Now a new S3 bucket has been created. We will introduce how to subscribe power protect data. The manager in AWS marketplace open the AWS marketplace link, search for power protect data manager, select DELL E MC power protect data manager and then click continue to subscribe, click continue to configuration, select the following configuration and then click continue to launch. Now we will introduce how to configure power protect data manager with cloud formation, notice DNS resolution and DNS host names must be enabled before running cloud formation. If you want to use self DNS, please refer del KB article 546390.
Click create stack select template is ready paste the template URL click next, enter the stack name in stack details type stack name, put the parameters to the template enable the public IP we can access power protect data manager and data domain from local machine IP inbound communication by default is open to all. We can customize it. It also can be changed after deployment, select launch, DDVE instance.
Otherwise cloud formation will not deploy D DVD. Put I am roll which we just newly created to the I AM roll for S3 access. Click next review the summary, click create stack. It will take several minutes to complete. Now we can see the stack created successfully back to EC2 service click running instances. Now we can see the power protect data manager instance and data domain instance are running successfully. It will take around 15 minutes after deployment before power protect data manager web interface is accessible for configuration.
