When planning your PPDM Software Update please refer to the "PowerProtect Data Manager Deployment Guide". This guide covers all aspects of the update process in detail.
Before proceeding with your PPDM update please check the following: Click the bell icon at the top right of the screen to ensure that there are no outstanding alerts. You should not proceed with the upgrade until you have resolved any outstanding issues.
Next, click the gear icon and select Disaster Recovery, select Manage Backups and ensure that you have a recent disaster recovery backup in place. This can be used to recover the system if needed. You can find more information at the PPDM Info Hub Knowledge Base Article 196987.
Next, ensure that you have a system snapshot in place. From your vCenter select the PPDM VM, select Actions, Snapshots and manage snapshots. This can be used to rollback the PPDM virtual machine if needed. With these checks completed you are ready to proceed with the PPDM software update.
Click the gear icon and select Software Update. Select Precheck and PPDM will execute the Software Update Precheck and will display a summary for you to review before proceeding.
Once you have addressed any concerns from the precheck you can select Install to begin the Software Update The Precheck will run again. At this point you can check the box to take a snapshot if needed. click next to proceed You will now be presented with a summary which shows any issues raised in the Precheck and the current version and the version that you are about to update to.
Select Finish if you wish to proceed. The update process will now begin. A progress bar is displayed and the current action is shown. The processs is fully automated and once completed you will be returned to the login screen.
After logging in, you will be presented with a summary of new features to review. You can select the gear icon, Software Update and then History to review your Software Update history. Your PPDM software update process is now complete.
