In this video, we will demonstrate how you can map the drives between your old and new PCs before you migrate your files and settings. Dell Migrate enables you to migrate files and settings from any PC running the Windows operating system to a Dell PC.
For steps to pair your PCs, see the video titled Getting started with Dell Migrate. After the PCs are paired, Dell Data Assistant scans your old PC and displays the files and settings that can be migrated.
By default, all your data is migrated to the primary drive in your new PC. But if you have multiple drives in both your PCs, or a single drive in either of your PCs, you can choose the drive where your data must be migrated.
Let’s assume that you have one drive in your old PC and multiple drives in your new PC. If you do not want to migrate the files to the default location, click Change. From the drop-down menu, select a drive in your new PC and click Apply. Click Migrate now.
When you have multiple drives on both your PCs, you can map a drive in your old PC to a specific drive in your new PC. If you do not want to migrate the files from a particular drive in your old PC, clear the check box.
Click Apply and click Migrate now. If you have multiple drives on your old PC and only one drive on your new PC, separate folders are created for each drive in the default location.
For example: Let’s assume you have C, and D drives in your old PC and only C drive in your new PC. During migration, Migration_D_Drive folders are created in the C drive in your new PC. in the C drive in your new PC.
