This video shows how to replace the fan on an Inspiron 15 5510 and 5518, as well as a Vostro 15 5510. Before removing the fan, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.

Before you begin, turn off the computer, disconnect all the attached peripherals, remove any SD card installed in the SD card slot on your computer, and enter Service Mode.
To enter Service Mode, press and hold the "B" key on the keyboard and then press the power button. Now, the computer will boot up and the Owner Tag information is displayed on the screen.
Press any key to proceed, the computer will emit three short beeps and shut down. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, loosen the two captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Then, remove the seven screws that also secure the base cover to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Pry the base cover from the top left corner and then continue to work on the sides to open the base cover. Finally, lift the base cover off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board. Remove the two screws that secure the fan to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. Now, lift the fan off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
You've successfully removed the fan. Now, let's install the fan. Using the alignment posts, place the fan on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Replace the two screws that secure the fan to the palm rest and keyboard assembly. And then connect the fan cable to the system board. Reinstall the base cover by aligning and placing the base cover on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Press the edges and sides of the base cover until it snaps into place. Then, tighten the two captive screws and replace the seven screws to secure the base cover to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
The fan installation process is now complete. Connect the power adapter and press the power button to power on the computer and exit from Service Mode.
