In this video, we show how to replace the speakers in an Inspiron 16 5645. Before you begin, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. To begin, loosen the two captive screws on the base cover, then remove the remaining six screws from the cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover starting from the recesses near the hinges. Continue prying along the other sides to release the base cover and remove it. Disconnect the battery cable from its connector on the system board. Turn over the computer and open the display. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain the flea power. Close the display and turn the computer back over. Carefully pry up on the cable connectors head and then pull it away from the connector.
Remove the cables from the routing guides and lift off the right and left speakers along with the speaker cable. To install the speakers using the alignment posts. Place the left and right speakers into their slots on the palm-rest. and keyboard assembly. Ensure that the rubber grommets are fitted through the speakers properly.
Rub the speaker cables through the routing guides and place the cable connector head into its slot and press. Now connect the battery cable to its connector on the system board. Align the base cover with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and snap it into place. Replace the six screws and then tighten the two captive screws to secure the base cover into place.
