This demonstration covers replacing an SFP module in a VNXe. For procedure details, please reference the most current documentation. Once the faulty SFP module has been identified, we’ll go ahead and start by removing the faulty SFP module. For demonstration purposes, I’m using an unracked system.
If a cable is connected to that SFP, disconnect the cable. We want to gently pull down on the spring release latch. While still holding on to the latch, gently pull out the SFP module. Now, let’s go ahead and install the replacement SFP module.
Push the spring release latch up and slide the new SFP module into the port until it’s securely connected. Reconnect the cable to the replacement SFP module. That concludes the demonstration. As a follow-up, go ahead and ensure that the system’s System Health page in Unisphere indicates that the component is marked with a “Status OK” icon.
