In this video, you will walk you through an overview of the Brightness contrast scheduling, Color management, Input source, and other Features in Dell Display and Peripheral Manager, or DDPM. To get started, select your device and navigate to the overview page.
Here, you'll see a detailed visual representation of your display, including an informative tooltip that shows the firmware version, service tag, and manufacturing date. It also shows the type of connector and includes a ‘Restore to Default’ button for reverting specific settings to their default values.
On the right, you'll find quick access to essential features like Display Settings, Input Source, Easy Arrange, KVM, and more, offering everything you need to set up and customize your monitor. With DDPM, you can manually control the brightness and contrast in real time, or set schedules to adjust and automatically use the “Schedule” option to create presets, specifying the start time, transition length, brightness, and contrast levels. Preview changes to ensure your settings are just right. Using DDPM, you can assign color presets to your applications.
To achieve this head to the color tab under Display Settings. For manual selection, select manual and choose color presets from the dropdown list. To automatically assign color settings to applications, select the 'Auto' option, and click the 'Add Application' button.
Once an application is added, a drop-down menu will appear for each app, allowing you to select the preset mode. For high-end monitors like the Ultrasharp series, the color management settings deliver an optimal color experience by matching a monitor's colors with the International Color Consortium - ICC profile. You can easily manage and replicate monitor settings, including color settings across multiple displays.
For a uniform color experience, you can select the manual option in the same tab to choose among different color profiles. Let's take a look at the input Source feature. Head over to the Input Source section. Here you can choose from several options: General, Picture-in-Picture or Picture-by-Picture, and Hotkeys. In the general tab, you'll see the current input source and all available video input ports.
You can name each input for easier identification and a more organized setup. You can find different display modes under the Picture-in-Picture / Picture-by-Picture tab. If your monitor supports these features, you can choose from Full Screen Picture-in-Picture with options for smaller or larger windows and Picture-by-Picture to split the screen into two windows side-by-side. The hotkeys tab lets you configure shortcuts for efficient control between connected computers and display modes.
You can find more features under the others tab. Use the application settings to export monitor settings from one monitor, and import them to another monitor of the same model. Simply click ‘Export’ to save a copy and then ‘Import’ on the other device. Whenever an update is available for DDPM or the monitor firmware, the gear icon will light up.
