Right Control Panel and Cooling Components Start with safety precautions and power-off procedures. Learn the sequential removal and installation of the cooling fan assembly, air shroud, right control panel, and covers. Emphasize cable routing for optimal results.
Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the fan cover:
Using a 1/4-inch flat head or Phillips #2 screwdriver, turn the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
Press the release tabs on the fan cover, and slide the cover towards the front of the system.
Lift the cover from the system.

Remove the rear system cover:
Loosen the two thumbscrews at the rear of the system.
Press the release tabs on the system cover, and slide the cover towards the rear of the system.
Lift the cover from the system.

Remove the cooling fan assembly:
Lift up the blue release levers to unlock position.
Holding the blue release levers of the cooling fan cage lift it up from the system.
Remove the air shroud:
Loosen the three captive screws.
Lift up the air shroud.

Removing the right control panel:
Using the T8 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the right control panel and cable cover to the system.
Remove the cable cover away from the system.
Disconnect the right control panel cable on the system board.
Holding the right control panel and cable assembly, slide the right control panel out of the system.
NOTE:Observe the routing of the cable assembly as you remove the right control panel from the system.

Installing the right control panel:
Align and slide the right control panel into the slot on the system.
Route the right control panel cable through the side wall of the system.
Align and slide the right control panel cable cover in the slot on the system.
NOTE:Route the cable properly to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Connect the right control panel cable to the connector on the system board.
Using the T8 Torx screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the right control panel and the cable cover to the system.

Install the air shroud:
Align the air shroud with the guides pin the system.
NOTE:Route the cable properly to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
Tighten the three captive screws.

Install cooling fan assembly:
Holding the blue release lever of the cooling fan cage, align the guide rails with the guides on the system.
Lower the cooling fan cage assembly into the system until seated firmly.
Lower the blue release lever and press to lock the cooling fan cage assembly into the system.
Install the rear system cover:
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the cover towards the front of the system, until the system cover locks in place.
Tighten the two thumbscrews at the rear of the system.

Install the fan cover:
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the cover towards the rear of the system, until the system cover locks in place.
Using a 1/4 inch flat head or Phillips #2 screwdriver, turn the lock clockwise to the lock position.
