This video shows how to replace the 5G WWAN card on a Latitude 5350. Before you begin, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the system. To enter service mode, press and hold the B key on the keyboard, then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed.
The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down. To begin, loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly. Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover from the recesses near the hinges. Then lift the base cover off the palm-rest assembly. Ensure that your computer is in service mode. If your computer is unable to enter service mode, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Then press and hold the power button for five seconds to grab the computer and drain the flea power. Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the 5G WWAN card. Remove the two screws that secure the WWAN thermal shield to the card. Now lift the WWAN thermal shield out of the computer. Disconnect the antenna cables from the card slide and remove the card from the slot labelled WWAN1. Then remove the WWAN card holder from the system board.
You've successfully removed the 5G WWAN card Now let's install the 5G WWAN card. Place the WWAN card holder on the system board. Connect the antenna cables to the card. Connect the black cable with a white stripe to the D/G connector, the blue cable to the M2 connector, the orange cable to the M1 connector, and the white cable with a gray stripe to the M connector. Align the notch on the card and slide it into the card slot labelled WWAN1.
Align and place the WWAN thermal shield on the card and tighten the two screws. Now place the WWAN card bracket on the card and tighten the screw. Next, since the battery is not a pre-requisite, if you have disconnected the battery cable, ensure to connect the battery cable. align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest assembly.
