This video demonstrates the process of removing and installing the BOSS module in a PowerEdge R670.
In this video, we show how to replace the BOSS module in a PowerEdge R670. Before removing the BOSS module, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. In order to remove the BOSS module, you first need to remove the cover and drive backplane cover. To remove the cover, rotate the lock counter clockwise. To unlock it, lift the latch to release the cover, then remove it from the system.
To remove the drive backplane cover, slide it towards the back of the system and remove. To remove the BOSS module, lift the blue plunger and slide the tray out of the system. If present, remove any boss carriers. Repeat if necessary, keeping note of placement. Pull the retention clips away from both edges of the boss module and slide it out of the tray.
To install the boss module. Slide it into the tray until it clicks into place, then replace any boss carriers. Align and slide the tray into the system. Lift the blue plunger to allow it to slide the rest of the way in and then release to secure it.
To install the backplane cover, align it on the system and slide it forward into place. To install the cover, align and place it on the system. Lower the latch, then rotate the lock clockwise to secure the cover. For more information or support about the Power EdgeR670, visit dell.com/Support.
