Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module

Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module 3.4.x

For 12th, 13th, and 14th-Generation PowerEdge Servers shipping as of March 2019

iDRAC Service Module (iSM) is a lightweight software service that better integrates operating system (OS) features with iDRAC and can be installed on Dell’s 12th or later generation of PowerEdge servers. iSM provides OS-related information to the iDRAC and adds capabilities such as LC log event replication into the OS log, WMI support (including storage), iDRAC SNMP alerts via OS, iDRAC hard reset and remote full Power Cycle. iSM automates SupportAssist report collection process for iDRAC leading to faster issue resolution. iSM has very little impact on the host processor and smaller memory footprint than ‘in-band’ agents such as Dell EMC OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA), thus expanding iDRAC management into supported host operating systems.

What’s New since iSM 3.3.x:
  • New OS Support: Windows 10 RS5 (Client), RHEL 7.6, VMware ESXi 6.7 U1
  • TLS protection enabled for securing iSM to iDRAC communication over OS-BMC Passthru
  • Single sign-on (SSO) to access iDRAC GUI from Host OS administrators desktop for Windows and Linux
  • Enabled Auto Dispatch capability for Embedded SupportAssist (Windows only)
  • Enabled IPv6 communication between iSM to iDRAC over OS-BMC Passthru on Linux OS
  • SupportAssist OS data collection on VMware ESXi supports collection in Filter mode for added privacy
  • Fixes
  • ASR event "Watchdog Timer Expired", which will be logged when Windows Management Instrumentation is not running on the host OS
    • iSM will now only enable ip_forward global settings on the host OS, only when iDRAC Access via Host OS feature is enabled on Linux OS
Further information about system requirements, new features, installation and product usage can be found in iDRAC Service Module 3.4 documentation.

Note: For 14th-Generation server models released after March 2019 please go to www.dell.com/support  and choose your specific model for the specific iSM version required.
