Symptoms

Windows 8.1 allows you to boot directly to the Desktop view of the system rather than the Start Screen.

To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Press the < Windows > key to access the Desktop view.
  2. Right-click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and select Properties.
  3. Click the Navigation tab, then check the box next to Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in.
