Symptoms

Issue :

VMware vSphere ESXi 5.1 with the free license only shows 32GB of RAM even though I have more than 32GB of memory installed.
 
Discussion :

The free license in ESXi 5.1 only supports up to 32GB of memory.
 
Resolution :

Two possible resolutions :

  1. Contact your account representative for a quote on a vSphere license.

  2. Upgrade to ESXi 5.5. VMware removed the 32GB memory limitation in the free licensed version of ESXi 5.5.
