The Next ‘Ultimate Geekfest’ is Here – Welcome to IDF 2013!

Today at Intel Developer Forum, EMC continues to showcase technology leadership and commitment to working with Intel by featuring EMC’s newest product families that take advantage of new capabilities in the Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 product family. They’re all about increased performance, reliability and scalability.

EMC recently announced the revolutionary new VNX series that delivers exceptional performance at one-third the price of the previous generation. The new VNX series delivers up to 4X the performance of the previous generation when enabled with the latest Xeon microprocessors and EMC MCx software.

MCx (Multi-Core RAID, Multi-Core Cache, and Multi-Core FAST Cache) applies dynamic core utilization and is designed to distribute VNX data services across all cores — up to 32. MCx software takes full advantage of the latest Intel Xeon processors with Integrated PCI Express* (PCIe) Gen3 for performance and I/O connectivity, and Storage extensions for higher availability and enhanced data protection.

EMC leverages the balanced performance of the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600’s for concurrent, sustainable bandwidth from CPU to memory and PCIe I/O to memory, excellent per-core performance and increased memory bandwidth with lower latency to deliver unprecedented application performance ex:  4X more file transactions, 4X more Oracle & SQL OLTP transactions, 6X more virtual machines…  while maintaining affordable pricing.

To that point, EMC is using the latest-generation Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 technologies widely across our product line to deliver massive performance and scalability. EMC’s industry-leading purpose built backup appliances including the new EMC Data Domain systems, EMC Avamar Data Store and EMC Disk Library for mainframe products all utilize latest Intel processor technologies.

Here are the some of the highlights for how to interact with EMC at IDF.

Stop by booths #600, #728, #815, and #811 – we are featured in 4 areas of the pavilion!

Leading edge products at EMC’s IDF Booth #600 include new VNX series, XtremIO, Isilon & Data Domain products. EMC’s collaboration with the NVM Express Community is featured at EMC’s Booth #728 and includes new NVMe-based NVRAM design.  EMC ViPR can be experienced at the Software Defined Infrastructure community at EMC’s Booth #815. EMC is also showcasing HPC – high-performance computing solution using Intel Lustre with a back-end of fault tolerant and highly scalable block storage in the Data Center Community at Booth #811.

These platforms utilize the latest Intel processor technologies, support both Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPU’s and represent the densest combination of processors, memory, I/O, and drives EMC has ever delivered.

Join Zahid Hussain, Senior Vice president, EMC Flash Products Division will be providing insight on EMC strategy and explaining how EMC leads with Platforms for Next-Generation Cloud & Big Data Applications at IDF on Wednesday, September 11 from 1-2 pm. Room, 2004.

Stay tuned for more leading edge developments from our partnership in the coming months — until then, learn more at the Intersection and join the #emc and #IDF 2013 conversations on Twitter.
