By moving to the cloud, Host Europe, the third-largest hosting provider in Germany, has developed one of Europe’s most environmentally friendly datacentres.
When Host Europe spoke to us about updating its datacentre, we suggested a secure, high-performing solution including Dell™ PowerEdge™ R810 servers with Hyper-V™ virtualization technology from Microsoft. The virtualized servers form the basis for Host Europe’s new private cloud model. While security and performance are important, the new solution offers an additional benefit: It’s greener and more energy efficient, using 30 per cent less energy than a conventional infrastructure.
As Severin Braun, Head of Managed Hosting Services at Host Europe, says: “In the past, it was difficult for customers to cover load peaks. Now customers can adjust the virtual servers to their needs within minutes and only pay for what they use. A virtual private cloud is the perfect solution for customers that need flexibility.”
Even though this environment is a relatively new addition to Host Europe, it’s proving popular and growing quickly, 5,000 virtual servers have already been launched, with a total of 10,000 expected within 12 months.
