Our turkey comas have finally worn off and we are looking back on a productive November across Dell enterprise solutions. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we are grateful for a number of new developments, which would not be possible if it weren’t for our customers and partners around the world. Read on to learn more about what’s been going on.
This month we expanded on the Dell PowerEdge 13th generation server portfolio to include new entry-level rack and tower servers aimed at helping SMBs grow. These additions are designed for customers who need to adapt to changing application demands and attain greater operational efficiency. New additions to the 13G family include the PowerEdge R330 and R230 rack servers and the PowerEdge T330 and T130 tower servers. Five of our servers were included in CRN’s 10 coolest servers of 2015 slideshow.
The Supercomputing 2015 conference was a fantastic way for us to showcase some of our newest HPC products and initiatives. Most notably, we released the Dell HPC System Portfolio, which combines the flexibility of custom systems with the simplicity and value of pre-configured solutions. We’re also expanding the Dell HPC Innovation Lab in Austin and starting the OpenHPC Collaborative Project to offer new, open source framework to support the world’s most sophisticated HPC environments. In other event news, we were also able to showcase some of our developments and recent innovations at SAP TechEd in Barcelona this month. Implementing a cloud strategy is becoming a top priority for IT leaders. Channel VP Frank Vitagliano met with Channel Partners to discuss the future of hybrid cloud. They discussed best approaches to implementing a cloud strategy and maintaining a focus on cloud security. Robert Hormuth, in the office of the CTO, also shared his thoughts on composable infrastructure, an important new trend in enterprise technology.
On the channel front, Synnex and Dell extended their agreement to distribute Dell’s products and solutions across Canada. Also, we hosted over 600 partners at the EMEA PartnerDirect Solutions Conference in Vienna to demonstrate our commitment to our channel partners and how we’re promoting more and more products to the channel.
We’ve been working hard over the last few years to develop an award winning channel partner program for our networking solutions. The work paid off this month and we were singled out as Networking Vendor of the Year at the CRN Awards in the UK. This award is a testament to the success of the Channel as well as Dell Networking. We were also proud to support SCinet, or the “world’s fastest network” at the Supercomputing Conference 2015 with the Dell Networking Z9100-ON fabric switch.
This month, Dell Storage announced a new Fluid File Video Solution to support increasing customer demand for more storage in video surveillance systems. The new solution combines the Dell Storage FS8600 scale-out NAS appliance with Dell Storage SCv2080 dense SAN array and can support more cameras and higher streaming rates. The solution is cost optimized from a dollar per gigabyte perspective and provides the best storage density when compared to the top five storage vendors. We also launched LTO-7 tape drives across the PowerVault tape portfolio, which offers significant improvements over previous generations. Additionally, we’ve been working with ClusterHQ to allow Docker containers to leverage Dell Storage so that developers and operations teams can use existing storage back ends to create portable container-level storage for Docker.
All in all, it’s been a busy month and we have a lot to be thankful for. These opportunities are just the highlights of what we’ve been up to in the last month.
