Dell trots out a new 30″ display: the UltraSharp U3011

Like I said in my recent post about our LED displays, we do plan on blogging more about our displays. Yesterday, we began offering the new $1,499  UltraSharp U3011 30-inch LCD display for customers in the United States and Canada. By the end of the month, we'll be offering it in many countries around the globe. While you may have already seen writeups in places like Engadget and Slashgear, I still think it's worth sharing more here.

For context, our Ultrasharp line represents the high end of our displays. They use in-plane switching (IPS) technology, for better color reproduction and wider viewing angles than other LCD displays. Case in point, our new UltraSharp U3011 features great color accuracy according to industry standards–99% Adobe RGB and 100% sRGB out of the box. It's capable of displaying 30-bit color (1.07 billion colors) and a color gamut of 117%.

Beyond color depth, it supports a wide 178 degree viewing angle. Elsewhere on the performance front, it offers  a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, a 7 ms response time. It is Energy Star 5.0 compliant, drawing a typical power consumption of about 110W. To run at the maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, you'll have two options: DisplayPort or the Dual Link DVI-D ports

Speaking of connectivity, the U3011 offers a DisplayPort connector, two HDMI ports, two DVI-D (dual link) ports, one component input, two USB ports and a 7-in-1 card reader to make importing large photos and HD videos from digital cameras a snap.

The height-adjustable stand also allows for tilt and swivel so you can set it up . And, like you would expect, we offer the U3011 with Dell's Premium Panel Guarantee. Many of the display controls are accessible via a sleek on-screen display (see below):

Bottom line if you are a photographer, a graphic designer, an animator or just an enthusiast who wants the best of what we have to offer, look no further than this 30-inch UltraSharp U3011.
