On October 24th, Dell hit the red carpet to support Lingerie London, an exclusive charity fashion event held to celebrate – and raise awareness of – the empowerment of women. Organised by Renata Mutis Black, chairwoman of the Seven Bar Foundation, the black-tie gala featured runway shows from luxury lingerie brands Agent Provocateur and Astudo Kudo. as well as a number of fundraising initiatives including both silent and live auctions.
I was lucky enough to attend the event and the beautiful Old Billingsgate building was the perfect venue. It was an amazing evening with all proceeds going to the foundation, a non-profit organisation which helps women in developing countries to start or grow their own small businesses, breaking the cycle of poverty for their children via microfinance. Renata, an inspiring host, raised awareness of the cause throughout the evening and explained how microfinance is an effective tool to combat poverty and empower women because it fosters self-reliance and encourages sustainable development.
To help facilitate donations, we provided the Agent Provocateur team with our latest Windows 8 hero, the XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook, with guests getting the chance to try out the easy transition between laptop and tablet for themselves. We also equipped the press lounge with additional XPS 12 devices and XPS One 27 touch desktops so they could scroll through photos and watch videos of the behind-the-scenes production of the Lingerie London event.
In total, over 400 guests attended the event, including an array of celebrities such as Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd and his wife Dawn O’Porter who co-hosted the event with Irish comedian Patrick Kielty. Peaches Geldof, Abbey Clancy and her footballer husband Peter Crouch were also at the event, joined by Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding and a host of top UK journalists among others.
