This weekend, Dell and YouTube, will once again stream free, real-time footage of Lollapalooza 2012 to millions of fans across the globe on www.youtube.com/lollapalooza. Starting on Friday, August 3, tune in each day at 1:30 pm Central time for premiere festival footage that will make you feel as much a part of the action as if you were there live.
We at Dell get pretty excited about music ourselves, but we enjoy even more building the technology to make it happen. Producing livestreams and video content for music festivals requires a high-end, accelerated workflow that enables near real-time video production. To meet this demand, Lollapalloza’s video production team, C3 Presents and Arts+Labor, is using Dell technology for the second year to produce editorial content, extras to support and surround the live broadcasts. Cameras positioned throughout the festivals capture performances, crowd shots, interviews and other content which is edited and then uploaded to multiple simultaneous channels on YouTube. The Dell technology that brings this content to life includes two Dell Precision M4700 mobile workstations for video ingest. Footage will be edited using Adobe® Creative Suite 6 Production Premium on two M6700 mobile workstations and two tower workstations, a Dell T3600 and T5600; all connected to 24” Dell UltraSharp monitors. All video content is stored on a Dell PowerVault NX200 NAS (network attached storage) device. A Dell PowerConnect 8024 10Gb switch facilitates fast network transfers of the large video files between all of the systems which makes sharing clips and content easy.
