CSP Cloud Transformation: A Collaboration between Dell and Rakuten

Dell Technologies and Rakuten lead telecom cloud transformation with the Telecom Blueprint for Rakuten Cloud.

The telecommunications industry is witnessing a profound transformation. The advent of 5G technology and the adoption of cloud-native, disaggregated software-based Core and Radio Access Networks (RAN) are reshaping the landscape. Amidst these changes, Dell and Rakuten Symphony are leading the way in modernizing how Communication Service Providers (CSPs) deploy and manage NFV infrastructure and services.

To address these challenges, Dell and Rakuten Symphony collaborated on a Telecom Blueprint for Rakuten Cloud that was validated in Dell Technologies Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab (OTEL). OTEL has been designed to facilitate collaboration, integration, testing and validation of innovative cloud-native 5G solutions. OTEL provides a secure environment purposely built for bringing together vendors like Dell and Rakuten Symphony to create the 5G cloud-native solutions of tomorrow.

Through this design and test certification approach, Dell and Rakuten Symphony are offering a tested solution for CSPs with unparalleled simplicity and automation capabilities that can streamline operations, accelerate service delivery, enhance efficiency and optimize network performance.

The Telecom Blueprint for Rakuten Symphony Cloud is essential for CSP telecom cloud transformation. It simplifies the deployment, management and operations of best-of-breed telecom cloud environments. The Rakuten Cloud solution was tested and certified on selected Dell Technologies PowerEdge platforms, designed specifically for 5G Core and RAN use cases.

The combination of Rakuten’s cloud-native technologies and Dell Technologies PowerEdge telecom infrastructure offers a powerful synergy for CSPs. It provides the agility and scalability needed to support 5G and disaggregated software-based Core and RAN networks. Moreover, it strengthens security and optimizes performance by automating operations and managing resource allocation.

The Dell Technologies Telecom Blueprint for Rakuten Cloud can drive greater operational efficiencies, resulting in cost savings when deploying Rakuten Cloud-Native Orchestrator with targeted Dell infrastructure in a CSP’s network. Based on Rakuten Symphony’s experience with Rakuten Mobile, using this architecture could result in substantial total cost of ownership benefits.

The collaboration between Dell and Rakuten Symphony is driving the cloud transformation of CSPs, offering unparalleled simplicity, automation capabilities, and significant cost savings. As we continue to innovate and push the boundaries, we look forward to working with Rakuten as we lead the way in the telecom industry’s cloud transformation journey.

To learn more about the Telecom Blueprint for Rakuten Cloud, Dell and Rakuten Symphony have developed a solution brief which describes the design to modernize the way CSPs deploy and manage NFV infrastructure and services.
