What’s next starts now: How Dell’s customer-centric innovation sets you up for success

I had the pleasure of speaking recently at DTX Manchester, the North of England’s biggest enterprise IT event, where Dell Technologies, alongside our partners Intel, Microsoft and CDW, had the opportunity to meet with hundreds of customers to discuss how we help them to turn their ideas into innovation outcomes faster.

It is absolutely crucial for organisations like ours, with a front row seat and a role to play in digital transformation, to meet with customers at events like this. It helps us to ensure that we continue to innovate and that our products are tailored to meet our customers’ ever evolving needs, so that they can deliver a superior end user experience.

Responding to the changing nature of consumers

Today’s consumers are more informed and discerning than ever before. They demand high-quality, personalised products and services, and they expect rapid responses to their needs. McKinsey defines them as the “zero consumer”. They are not loyal to brands and can be seen to both spend and save simultaneously. Zero consumers are also more likely to make purchasing decisions based on factors such as security, health, and sustainability.

To cater for these modern consumer demands and stay competitive in today’s fast-paced market, organisations need to embrace and invest in their digital transformation. The advent of advanced analytics enables companies to offer hyper-personalised, seamless omnichannel experiences. By leveraging real-time insights and reducing risks, businesses can serve customers in new and creative ways, driving growth and differentiation.

To enhance the customer experience even more, Gen AI offers significant potential for businesses to extract more value from their data. While large language models (LLMs) and neural networks have been around since the 1960s, recent advancements in computational capability, particularly with GPUs, have made it possible to handle vast amounts of data and parameters more efficiently.

However, the challenge lies in translating this technological capability into actionable insights.

According to the Dell Technologies Innovation Catalysts study, 82% of organisations know that data is the differentiator that can accelerate their competitive advantage. However, only 33% know how to turn their data into real-time insights today.

This gap highlights the importance of integrating an IT strategy with business strategy, aligning people, processes, and technology to meet customer demands effectively.

Investing in customer-centric innovation

The changing nature of consumer expectations necessitates a customer-centric approach in how technology companies operate and make decisions. Data, Gen AI, and digital transformation are key enablers of this shift, enabling organisations to respond to these changes more effectively.

At Dell Technologies, we work across a broad ecosystem of partner to help our customers navigate this changing landscape. Our approach involves taking business intelligence from prescriptive to predictive, using various sources of information to inform future trends and demand. This allows us to provide tailored solutions that enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.

By investing in R&D and committing to customer-centric innovation, we ensure that we deliver products and solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the end user.

For example, we have developed “workforce personas” to tailor devices, accessories, software, and tools to help team members be productive, collaborate, and stay connected.

Additionally, we focus on creating holistic solutions with security and sustainability embedded in everything we do. Our PC as a Service (PCaaS) offering, APEX, allows customers to transfer the burden of managing their end-user computing to Dell Technologies, enabling them to focus on their core business.

Generative AI also plays a significant role in our innovation strategy. By bringing AI to our customers’ data, we enable creativity and productivity to reach new heights, helping organisations to unlock their potential. To support this transformation, a strong foundation is essential, including a modern data centre that is smart, flexible, and resilient, and a multicloud-by-design approach to optimise costs and enhance data mobility.

I’m excited for what the future holds and it all starts now. To find out more about how we work with our customers and partners to accelerate ideas to innovation, visit Dell.com/WelcomeToNow.
