Efficiency Unleashed: Powering Tomorrow’s Data Management with PowerStore

The intelligent architecture of Dell PowerStore, paves the way for efficient storage and big savings

The swift pace of technological evolution has bestowed upon us a golden opportunity to extract unparalleled value from data. Yet, this comes with its own set of challenges, as enterprises find themselves in an era of heightened competition, demanding unprecedented speed and agility.

As if that weren’t enough, businesses have to deal with global market uncertainties and escalating energy expenditures. This convergence has birthed a cautious corporate landscape, where every expenditure is scrutinized.

Fear not, for there is a solution to this intricate puzzle. With the right technological arsenal for your data management, you can achieve resource power efficiency and business velocity, propelling your business into the future.

Enter Dell PowerStore. Boasting an intelligent, software-driven, adaptable storage architecture, it not only minimizes effort and optimizes performance but evolves dynamically to confront unexpected challenges. PowerStore enables enterprises to benefit from the full potential of their resources and achieve their business goals with significant money savings.

Certified for Power-Efficiency
Dell takes the lead in the green revolution with a robust portfolio of energy-efficient storage solutions. Our systems aren’t just efficient – they set new standards, as evidenced by numerous ENERGY STAR certifications, more than any of our competitors[1]. This ensures that the energy efficiency aspect of your decision is addressed to you. Currently, three PowerStore models meet the stringent ENERGY STAR guidelines, and Dell is committed to extending this achievement across the entire range.

Architected for adaptability
PowerStore delivers adaptable, scalable architecture and versatile deployment, ensuring your enterprise’s investment adapts and grows efficiently with your evolving business needs.

The system’s single-drive scalability and mix and match capabilities enhance hardware efficiency. Offering granular scale-up and scale-out expansion, PowerStore is designed to accommodate change. Our storage solution supports unified block, vVols, and enterprise file services, along with flexible deployment models spanning edge, core, and cloud, designed to be a lasting asset through technological shifts.

Efficient Hardware with No Compromises
PowerStore is designed as an all-flash, modern, storage platform, maximizing application performance and power efficiency. Flash drives consume much less power compared to mechanical HDDs and generate less heat due to having no moving parts.

Adaptive cooling technology optimizes efficiency, saving you cooling costs. The fans speed up as temperatures rise or CPU usage increases, maintaining optimal temperatures using only the required energy.

PowerStore offerings with Titanium power supplies, rated by the 80 Plus certification program, use less electricity and emit less heat, resulting in greater efficiency and power consumption savings.

Increased storage efficiency and reduced TCO
An independent consultant put in test PowerStore 1200T and a similar all-flash storage platform from another vendor exploring options for enterprises to lower costs and increase the storage efficiency of their infrastructure.

The tests showed that PowerStore needed just 14 drives to store the same dataset for which the other platform required 24 drives. Moreover, PowerStore used 41% less energy and less rackspace and cooling. PowerStore enables enterprises to reduce their infrastructure costs and the overall total cost of ownership (TCO).

Efficiency and Performance
PowerStore’s efficiency comes without compromises in performance. Our storage solution is an all-flash array with internal NVMe connectivity and best-in-class host-based NVMe options.

Supporting technologies like NVMe over Fibre Channel and IP networks, PowerStore stands at the forefront of performance storage solutions.

PowerStore packs a punch with a performance per watt focus, in a compact 2U form factor, less than 10cm tall. With each new generation of our solution, we’re reducing its energy intensity making it more power efficient.

The latest PowerStore offers up to 60% more IOPS per Watt[2] and a remarkable 61% more data density per rack unit[3], compared with previous generations. To increase data density, Dell guarantees a 4:1 reduction ratio across the entire PowerStore lineup.

AI Optimization
PowerStore’s built-in AI and Machine Learning support self-optimizing processes that effortlessly fine-tune both operational and power efficiency, performance, and availability without manual intervention.

All storage services are configured automatically and environment monitoring improves resource utilization, leading to up to 99% less managerial workload[4]. All these translate to more time for your IT team to focus on more productive tasks.

Last year, IDC[5] researched the value and advantages of adopting PowerStore to modernise and expand workloads for organizations. The findings are revealing:

    • 468% three-year Return on Investment
    • 24% decrease in total three-year operational costs without compromising performance
    • 11-month payback period

Dell Technologies’ PowerStore, isn’t just a promise; it’s a tangible step towards a sustainable future in data management. It supports enterprises with more performance, enhanced efficiency, scalability, and a lower Total Cost of Ownership. It’s not just about meeting present needs; it’s about building a solid foundation for the challenges of tomorrow.
