Dakota Crescent

Located off Old Airport Road, Dakota Crescent is one of Singapore’s oldest public housing estates. Comprising 17 charming, brick-clad, low-rise flats, the 65-year-old neighborhood sports a vintage playground that takes the shape of a dove. It is a shadow of its buzzing past as most of its residents have relocated.

Kampong-Buangkok-800x600.

Kampung Buangkok

Kampong Lorong Buangkok is the last surviving village on mainland Singapore. In the 60’s, the land was rented out to Malay and Chinese families. Early settlers embraced the “kampong spirit”, where houses were built with the help of neighbors. Comprising a cluster of zinc-roofed houses, the kampong remained largely unchanged.

Istana Raja Muda

Built in 1922, the Istana Raja Muda, located in Teluk Intan, Perak, was the state’s crown prince's official residence. It served as a venue for official ceremonies and events until 1988, when the prince’s palace was moved to a new building in Ipoh, Perak, leaving the old building uncared for.
Papan-Town-800x600

Papan Town

The town of Papan, derived from the Malay word for 'plank', started out during the mining boom in the 1800s. Located in Perak, Malaysia, what used to be a buzzing tin-mining town is now overtaken by mostly abandoned heritage buildings, after the 1980s crash in tin prices.
