Dell Named As a Top Corporate Citizen by Corporate Responsibility Magazine

Dell has evolved into a comprehensive technology services and solutions provider, through both acquisition and organic growth. Correspondingly, our corporate responsibility strategy is evolving to meet the needs of our changing business.

We’re proud of that progression, and we’re equally honored to be recognized by Corporate Responsibility Magazine as one of its 100 Best Corporate Citizens, moving up 10 spots to #37 on the list.The ranking takes a broad view of responsibility issues — covering everything from giving and employee relations to environmental practices and corporate governance. It also weights a company’s transparency, something we value highly as we seek to explain to our stakeholders what we’re doing in this area, and how and why we’re doing it.

Just a few of our recent efforts include:

  • Launching a Digital Operations Center with the American Red Cross to engage in social media conversations with the public during disasters and target relief to the areas that need it most. The center is the first social media-based operation devoted to humanitarian relief.
  • Opening the world-class Dell Western Technology Center in Quincy, Wash. to offer cloud technologies. The data center is built with the largest installation of energy-efficient heat wheel technology in the United States for highly efficient cooling and low energy consumption, keeping costs and power usage to a minimum. Additionally, the Quincy area provides an abundance of hydro power, so the energy we do use is more environmentally sustainable.
  • Beginning a multi-year, multimillion dollar commitment to fighting childhood cancer. This pledge includes funding, team member engagement and cloud computing technology to identify targeted treatments for children fighting the deadliest of pediatric cancers, and to expand the reach and impact of the world’s first personalized medicine clinical trial for pediatric cancer.
  • Adding hundreds of locations to our Dell Reconnect program, the free electronic recycling program we offer along with Goodwill Industries International. Take a couple of minutes with our new video to learn how you can recycle your electronics in a responsible, safe way.

Trisa Thompson is the Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Dell, with responsibility for Dell's global giving and sustainability. Previously at Dell, Trisa served as Vice President, Legal, for the Global Operations, Marketing and Product Groups, and was a member of the Legal Team for 12 years. She was the founding co-chair of the Women's Networking Group, W.I.S.E., at Dell, and also serves on the PRIDE Executive Board. She is also a member of the Global Giving and Sustainability Councils. Trisa joined Dell in June 1998 from the Washington, D.C. office of Seyfarth, Shaw. Trisa was a partner with Seyfarth in its Government Procurement Law practice. She specialized in federal, state, and local procurement law and litigation. She joined Seyfarth directly out of law school in 1986.
