In May I announced the Dell SAP joint solution offerings for customers looking to migrate their SAP deployments to Dell’s public vCloud. This announcement was extremely well received and I have engaged with SAP to establish a co-ordinated blog series highlighting this new joint solution.
The Dell vCloud and SAP solution is available for enterprises running on-premise private clouds as well as Dell’s off-premise public vCloud currently available in the US and Canada with Europe coming soon. Either solution provides customers with a bevy of benefits:
- Superior infrastructure: Minimizes the risk of aging data centers. SAP Cloud solutions enable an incremental path for infrastructure renewal. No need for a “rip and replace” approach
- Industry standards: Widely adopted standards ensure long-term viability of the architecture and more flexible options for application selection and configuration
- Cost-effective: Leveraging a private and hybrid (public) cloud environment for peak and non-production loads saves costs
- Agility: Cloud can enable more automated and rapid deployment of different environments. This benefits dynamic test and production environments as well as improving disaster recovery. We want to throw SAP landscapes around like they are nickels!
