Dell Technologies has been named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software for the 17th time.¹ Read the report here to learn more about what Gartner has to say about Dell Technologies. We are honored by this distinction and are truly indebted to our customers who continue to entrust us to help them protect and secure their most critical asset – their data.
Data protection has been a top concern for organizations for years, but the challenges of protecting data in today’s hybrid, multicloud world are more complex than ever before. Persistent cyberthreats, the growth and hyper-distribution of data across core, edge and multicloud environments and the increased adoption of newer workload types like Kubernetes containers, cloud-native and SaaS applications, continues to challenge even the most seasoned IT professionals.
Increased IT complexity not only translates into increased risk, but potentially lost opportunities as IT resources are diverted away from strategic initiatives, resulting in delays to critical projects. A key imperative, therefore, is to simplify IT with innovative solutions that automate securing and protecting data wherever it resides across hybrid, multicloud infrastructure. This allows organizations to spend less time on data protection infrastructure and more time delivering leading-edge products and services to delight their customers.
To be sure, there is no silver bullet when it comes to gaining the cyber resilient, hybrid, multicloud data protection needed to help accelerate digital transformation. We believe it takes an integrated portfolio of solutions to bridge the gap between where customers are today in their IT modernization journeys and where they want to go in their digital evolution.
Our customers continue to aggressively adopt PowerProtect Cyber Recovery to improve their cyber resiliency. As the only solution available in the market that adheres to the Sheltered Harbor standards for protecting critical data from cyberthreats, our customers have the flexibility to deploy an isolated, air-gapped digital vault in their data center, to an alternate site, or into the public cloud to safeguard their data from ransomware, malware or insider threats.
In addition to delivering continuous enhancements to protecting hybrid, multicloud Kubernetes containers and cloud-native workloads, PowerProtect Data Manager introduced two new features that are unique in the market: Transparent Snapshots and Dynamic NAS Protection. In addition to these features, Data Manager can now also leverage new Smart Scale capabilities available with PowerProtect DD appliances. Combined, these technologies produce faster backups and restores, greatly simplified backup administration and improved efficiencies, helping organizations save time and money. This is resulting in significant customer adoption.
Solutions that enable our customers to leverage their VMware investments while giving them a simplified, consistent data protection experience wherever their workloads and data are deployed across hybrid, multicloud environments are essential. Our partnership with VMware continues to bear fruit as evidenced by the recent release of Transparent Snapshots, our innovations in protecting data in VMware Tanzu Kubernetes environments and our ongoing support for VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution and Google Cloud VMware Engine.
We continue to see significant growth in the adoption of our data protection offerings in the public cloud. Today we are protecting over 11.6 Exabytes of data in the public cloud², representing 34% year over year growth.³ Our cyber resiliency and multicloud data protection solutions can be easily purchased and deployed directly from the AWS, Azure and Google Cloud marketplace environments, enabling our customers to draw down on their public cloud contracts while simplifying the protection and resiliency of their VMs, Kubernetes containers, cloud-native apps and SaaS workloads.
Dr. Jonas Salk once said, “The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more.” We are grateful for the opportunity to do more with our customers to protect and secure their data as they continue their journeys to evolve, transform and succeed in the data era.
