Tania Ward
Security Champion, Dell Technologies
Tania Ward oversees the security training and security champion program at Dell Technologies. In this role, she drives to put security in the hands of Dell’s development teams. She cultivates a culture of security across the company by increasing secure development knowledge and the adoption of security best practices. Prior to this role, Tania worked in the Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) for just under six years. In that time, she revamped the vulnerability response program, instituted companywide KPIs, and spoke at industry events on topics such as Secure Development Lifecycle, Third Party Component Management as well as the Security Champion Program. She also participated in establishing the PSIRT and the Multi-Vendor Coordination frameworks from the Forum of Incident Security Response Teams (FIRST) association.
Tania is from Northern Ireland and graduated with a degree in Computer Science from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales. She moved to the United States in 1999 to join Microsoft where she spent just over 14 years working on a multitude of different products such as SQL Server, Windows Live and Microsoft Office.
Tania currently co-chairs the SAFECode Training Working Group as well as the Trusted Computing Group Vulnerability Response Team. She considers herself a responder at heart, whether it’s volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician for her local ambulance service or ski patrolling as part of the National Ski Patrol.
