The latest releases of Dell Avamar, NetWorker, Data Protection Advisor and Data Protection Central are now available. The new release adds to a string of new updates and innovations to Dell Data Protection Suite and continues the momentum of the Dell Data Protection software portfolio in the marketplace.
As two of the three data movers in Data Protection Suite, Avamar and NetWorker play critical roles in delivering efficiency, flexibility and reliability to customer data protection operations. These updates maintain that path and represent Dell’s ongoing commitment to Data Protection Suite, its components and its thousands of customers.
Avamar 19.7
In Avamar 19.7, customers will see the continued enhancement of its HTML5 user interface (UI) and automating customer experience. Specifically, backup and restore operations for Oracle and SAP environments running on Solaris have been streamlined. A notification feature has been added to inform customers of new software updates to help keep them current on their software.
Avamar now offers enhanced secure access by supporting multi-factor authentication (MFA), Smartcard login and support for RSA SecureID.
NetWorker 19.7
One of the great benefits of NetWorker is the broad application, database and environment support it offers. In NetWorker 19.7, that support is expanded further with support for Microsoft Exchange MetachacheDM and Cassandra databases. Enhancements have also been made to NetWorker’s ongoing support of Microsoft SQL Server and IBM Db2 environments.
NetWorker also continues to move its user interface and automation capabilities forward. The release focuses on the user interface for REST API functionality.
Data Protection Advisor 19.7 and Data Protection Central 19.7
Data Protection Advisor and Data Protection Central, the advanced monitoring, reporting and analytics tools of Data Protection Suite, also received updates in this release.
Data Protection Advisor 19.7 features UI support for the start of MFA by supporting RSA SecureID. Data Protection Advisor also added a new package of 3D chart types, to expand its already robust library and give administrators better visualize reports for stakeholders. The report editor has also been enhanced with a new “preview anywhere” feature.
Data Protection Central 19.7 introduces security enhancements, including keycloak-based SSO Server and improved resiliency during connectivity failures. It also provides an improved search-filter-sort capability on the System Management page.
Both Data Protection Advisor and Data Protection Central received additional security, support and compliance updates to help keep them on pace with industry standards and customer requirements.
Data Protection Suite Momentum
This latest Data Protection Suite update caps a busy two month stretch of innovation and advancement for Data Protection Suite. The activity began in May at Dell Technologies World 2022, when our appliances team announced the availability of Smart Scale (see video above), an innovative, multi-exabyte management tool. Both NetWorker and PowerProtect Data Manager natively support Smart Scale in their latest releases.
Both PowerProtect Data Manager 19.11 and Dell Cyber Recovery 19.11 releases were recently announced, highlighting increased performance, scalability and security in the cloud.
Data Protection Suite has been demonstrating its value in the field, and we have released several new customer stories over the past two months. You can explore real-world case studies of our customers’ recent success such as Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Town of Gilbert, Arizona, and Savills Australia.
