Since our launch of consumer desktops and notebooks with Ubuntu factory-installed in the U.S. in May, we have heard from many people in the IdeaStorm community who would like Dell to make this option available in their country or region. Based on this feedback, Dell plans to offer the option of Linux factory-installed on consumer systems in additional locations outside the United States. We expect to have more details later this summer.Meanwhile, here are a few updates on our Linux strategy:
- With the recent launch of our new Inspiron systems a few weeks ago, we are offering Ubuntu 7.04 to customers in the U.S. on the Inspiron 1420N notebook, Inspiron 530N desktop and both are available for order now at www.dell.com/open.
- Additionally, the Linux category on our blog, Direct2Dell, will now feature more of our Linux engineers, who will provide more technical updates for folks who are interested. Read more at this post on Direct2Dell.
