I want to start off by saying how excited I am to be joining the EMC team, and I want to thank everyone for the very warm welcome that I’ve received.
As those who know me can attest, I have a passion for the technology industry and enjoy the dynamic nature and far-reaching impact that it has. I have first-hand experience at two very different companies that were both transforming their businesses through technology and leveraging information as a competitive differentiator. Successfully navigating this change is critically important for every company today. I wanted to be at the center of the transformation in IT – at a company that matters. With the rise of the information generation, the opportunity in cloud and big data is exploding. New IT capabilities are changing the way we all live, redefining the technology industry and creating opportunities that are drawing a lot of interest and investment.
When I look across the IT industry, EMC stands out to me with a special combination of expansive opportunity, smart strategy and incredible people. As a former customer, I remember visiting the Hopkinton offices and thinking how EMC is a great partner and delivers excellent solutions and service to back them up. EMC has a track record of being able to foresee changes, invest wisely and position itself well — through heavy investment in product leadership, smart acquisitions, and the ability to grow new businesses into strong revenue drivers for the company. Customers like what EMC is doing, see EMC as more strategic than in the past and intend to deepen their relationships with the company. EMC is a leader and a force for change in IT, and I believe EMC will be one of the winners.
The ability to be successful comes down to having the right team, and here, EMC has the well-deserved reputation for solid execution. Looking across the EMC federation of businesses, this is one of the most respected and accomplished group of executives in IT. Additionally, EMC’s finance organization has earned an excellent reputation for strong financial management, and I’m fortunate to be a part of such a highly talented team.
I’m looking forward to working with all of EMC’s stakeholders — including customers, partners, employees and shareholders — to help achieve our shared success. I believe EMC is the right company in the right place at the right time!
