Last week, customers, partners, the media and Dell team members came to celebrate the launch of the Dell Solution Center in Round Rock, Austin. The event was attended by members of Dell’s leadership team including Steve Schuckenbrock, Paul Bell and Jan Uhrich who opened the event by speaking about the global Solution Center network, Dell’s services and solutions strategy and the capabilities of the center to bring Dell’s open, capable and affordable solutions to life for our customers.
Austin is the third Solution Center to launch globally, following Limerick and Shanghai, and the first center to officially open in the Americas. The team at the Austin center provides IT architecture, engineering, data management and proof of concept testing for customers in the mid-sized, public and large enterprise markets.
Jan Uhrich, who leads Dell’s Services and Solutions Group, explained the value of the global solution center network.
“The first-hand knowledge of the application and deployment environment that customers experience at the DSC enables them to better leverage their technology investments so they can focus their attention on what they do best, which drives results and growth.”
Demonstrating Dell’s Innovative Solutions
Guests at the event participated in four interactive demonstrations of Dell’s solutions across Healthcare, Education, Government and Next Generation Computing Solutions for data center management.
A highlight of the tour was the Digital Forensics and Rugged Mobility demonstration that showcased Dell’s Multi-Level Security (MLS) client solution for multi-domain communication over a single end device.
In the Education demonstration room, guests viewed the Connected Classroom solution that works across Dell’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform.
The same VDI platform gives patients more of what is most important from their doctors – their time. Through the Mobile Clinical Computing solution, healthcare professionals can view data, lab results and patient information from any device and from any location in their network, offering access and mobility from the bedside to the OR and anywhere in between.
And finally, guests got to learn more about our Advanced Infrastructure Management solution, when our team demonstrated an e-commerce site going down, being replicated and brought back up within a very short space of time.
Some familiar guests
It was great to be joined by so many of our local team members on the day, some of whom you will be very familiar with; Lionel Menchaca and Susan Beebe both attended the event, as did our Cloud Evangelist Barton George. Learn more about Barton’s view of the event and see some videos of the demos in his blog post.
Continuing the rollout
The summer continues to be a busy time for the Solution Centers team with the official launches of the Singapore and Washington DC centers within the next 2 weeks. Our centers in Paris and Tokyo will open for business in the next couple of months and finally, we will open our Solution Centers in New York and Sao Paulo late in the year.
