Last week we kicked off our annual event, Dell World, with several major announcements and the opportunity to showcase some of our most innovative new solutions. Today our team is at Oracle OpenWorld, and we’re not slowing down. Dell and Oracle have partnered for over 20 years to help customers unlock the value of their data, deliver a faster path to productivity and enable business transformation. At this week’s event, we’re showcasing the latest offerings from that partnership – the Dell Acceleration Appliance for Databases 2.0, the Dell Integrated Systems for Oracle Databases 2.0, and the Dell Storage SC9000 with Oracle integration.
Dell Acceleration Appliance for Databases and Dell Integrated System for Oracle Databases – version 2.0[FA1]
The Dell Acceleration Appliance for Databases is an easy to procure and deploy, pre-integrated solution that provides mid-market and enterprise organizations with an avenue to quickly and cost-effectively boost database performance. Dell World was our first opportunity to unveil the newest DAAD upgrade – version 2.0 – which has double the capacity as the first edition and triples Oracle database 12c performance without incurring additional licensing costs. Additional benefits of the Dell Acceleration Appliance for Databases 2.0 include:
- Simplified management through Dell OpenManage and iDRAC
- Streamlined deployment with a pre-integrated and fully configured form factor
- Reduced latency by up to 96 percent compared to traditional spinning disk
DAAD 2.0 is also an important piece of what we’re unveiling this week at Oracle OpenWorld – the Dell Integrated Systems for Oracle Databases (DISOD) 2.0. The DISOD 2.0 update integrates DAAD 2.0 with Dell PowerEdge R730 or R930 servers, network fabrics, a dedicated OpenManage Essentials tool and ProSupport services to offer customers with an optimal platform for their highest performance Oracle database needs.
The Dell Storage SC9000 with Oracle integration
Last week at Dell World, we announced the Dell Storage SC9000. This new storage array is redefining the economics of large-scale flash datacenters, with all-flash solutions now as low as $0.65/GB. [2] Massively scalable and extremely efficient, SC9000 provides up to 40% more IOPS and over twice the throughput of previous SC solutions, making it an easy choice for the most demanding enterprise deployments.[3]
Powered by new Storage Center 6.7 software, SC Series arrays feature Oracle integrations that allow database administrators to protect and recover their data without the help of a storage or server administrator. Application Protection Manager for Oracle offers hardware-based snapshots for up to 10 RAC databases in an automated, highly-scriptable environment. In addition, the Dell Storage Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager allows DBAs to access storage information from a single familiar database management tool.
