Dell and Alienware have long been the system of choice for serious gamers around the world. The Alienware 2010 Clan Challenge held recently in Australia showcases our commitment to providing the absolute best hardware for gamers.
After weeks of intense online battles the tournament wrapped up when Australia’s top gaming clans converged on Sydney’s Carriageworks. The top eight clans were flown in from around the country to decide who would be crowned Alienware Clan Challenge champions.
The competition put a call out to gamers from around Australia, attracting over 300 of the nation’s best gamers. Beginning in March, the clans took on one another online in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, battling it out to reach the final 8, where they would be given the opportunity to compete for almost $30 000 worth of Alienware gear at the Alienware Clan Challenge final in Sydney.
After a long day of tightly contested battles, the final came down to the third seeded Frenetic Array up against the top seeded Archaic eSports. Frenetic Array only had to take out one of the two maps in the final to be crowned champions. With Archaic up 12-8 in the first map it appeared it would be taken into a deciding map, but Frenetic Array rallied to take the tie into overtime and come out victorious and take home the 5 Alienware Aurora gaming rigs.
The final not only crowned the winning clan, it also brought together gamers who had never met. Many have been playing together online for the better part of a decade but never met face to face, and were given the opportunity to spend time together for a few action-packed days in Sydney.
“It was a really unforgettable experience finally being able to put a face compared to just an alias and a voice, not just for meeting my team but everybody else who attended the LAN as well,” said Frenetic Array captain Paul ‘Ampzz’ McDonald.
With Channel Nine News, ABC, Sky News and a host of Australia’s leading gaming publications all attending, the efforts of the gamers didn’t go unnoticed.
