There’s free Wi-Fi, tables and comfy couches in case you want to crank out some work and/or meet with your group. Also, there’s a daily giveaway of a Venue-7 tablet and any purchases made at #DellVenue receive a 10% discount.
Week 1 in Review
Dell successfully launched the new Dell Venue tablets with Android and Windows 8, as well as the new XPS laptops. Our new products received great reviews from both media and analysts, as well as friendly New Yorkers that stopped by the space to work and check out the new products.
Then we celebrated the launch in true NYC fashion with music and good food from the amazing Chef Roblé.
On Thursday, October 3, after hosting open hours for the public to relax and enjoy free wifi and snacks, Dell hosted an exclusive panel with renowned designer, Jonathan Adler, and his sister Amy Adler to discuss the topics of protection of creative design elements. The panel was moderated by Dwell Editor-in-Chief, Amanda Dameron.
On Saturday, October 5, 2013, Dell partnered with Intel and Music Unites to host a Music Versity event at the #DellVenue in NYC. Music Unites is a non-profit organization that sustains music education programs for underfunded school districts in urban centers across the nation.
The event brought in 30 local high school students with an opportunity to learn how to mix beats using Dell XPS systems and Stage Light software by Open Labs. Grammy award winning record producer, Danja hosted the event and spoke with the kids about the importance of music in his life and inspired determination and perseverance in following one’s dreams. “Don’t base life decisions on what anyone else thinks, do what is best for you in your life,” Danja told the students. Following the Q&A session, the students learned how to mix music in a beat making lab led by the Open Labs team. The students then had an opportunity to share their music for Danja and the crowd. Danja even joined one student in a freestyle rap.
At the end of the event, Dell presented Music Unites with a $10,000 donation – enabling the program to continue to inspire students across the country. Dell looks forward to a continued partnership with Music Unites.
